Manchester United ‘took a closer look’ at Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window as they eye a potential move in the summer.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say they were also in contact with the player’s environment and ‘obtained initial information’ about a transfer.
Muani is expected to be one of the hottest properties come the summer after a superb season for Frankfurt in which he has scored 19 goals and assisted 14 in 38 games in all competitions so far.
That, coupled with him establishing himself in the France set up and earning rave reviews from the likes of Kylian Mbappe, have led to increasing speculation that he will be on the move at the end of the season.
Sport 1 follow that up today, stating that they ‘took a closer look’ at the striker in the winter transfer window, even going as far as to speak with his agents about a potential move to Old Trafford.
They say that Eintracht Frankfurt are preparing to lose their star man, with an acceptance that he is developing too quickly and becoming too hot a commodity for them to keep hold of.
They are already looking for potential successors, with the likes of Mateo Retegui and Elye Wahi on the list of players they could look at.
They are currently to0 expensive as they are valued at €15-20m, but if they were to sell Muani, who they want at least €100m for, that would be a gamechanger and open many doors.
Whether the likes of Manchester United are willing to pay such a figure remains to be seen but as far as they’re concerned in Germany, they are very much in contact about a transfer.
