Last week, an article appeared in the Italian media claiming that Inter were still eyeing up Caglar Soyuncu, set to leave Leicester City on a free in the summer, to replace Milan Skriniar.
The Serie A side will have to reshape their defence this summer, with a couple of players potentially set to leave, and the Turkish centre-back was reportedly among their targets.
Inter Live on Monday, however, dismiss that notion, and admit that while the Leicester man was being thought about, ‘there is zero chance’ of him heading to San Siro.
That’s because he is ‘destined’ to go to another club, with that being Atletico Madrid, currently sitting fourth in La Liga.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as it was reportedly pushed ahead of and during the January transfer window that the Spanish side were trying to convince Leicester to agree a winter deal, to no avail.
That means a move in the summer is far more likely, and that’s because Soyuncu has ‘already reached an agreement in principle’ with the player.
The former Freiburg centre-back ‘will marry’ Atlético on a free in the summer ‘barring a sensational U-turn’, and that’s something both Leicester and Inter have to come to terms with.
