Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and West Ham United have all made efforts to sign Barcelona youngster Marc Casadó, according to claims from the Catalan media.
The 18-year-old has come up through the ranks of the Spanish club’s youth system, starting from their U14A side. He is yet to make an appearance for Barca’s first team.
Casadó has impressed with his performances and ‘become one of the leaders’ in the club’s academy. This has been sufficient to attract interest from Brighton, Southampton and West Ham.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who explain the Premier League trio tried to tempt the young midfielder with ‘superior financial offers’.
The attempts made by the Seagulls, Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side and the London club didn’t yield any result. The teenager ‘turned down better offers’ from the English clubs to stay at Barcelona.
At the start of this month, the Spaniard committed his future to the Camp Nou side by signing a new two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.
Casadó’s decision to snub approaches made by Brighton, Southampton and West Ham has been rewarded with selection in Xavi Hernández’s squad for Barca’s pre-season tour to the United States.
