Brahim Diaz’s future is a favourite topic for the Spanish media.
The youngster’s Manchester City contract expires at the end of the season and there have been repeat claims he could be on his way out of the Premier League champions.
In the summer transfer window it was reported in Spain that Diaz had ‘numerous offers’ to leave the club at that time.
Mundo Deportivo quoted the player as saying: “Yes, we will continue. It is a luxury to learn from the best and to live with them. I want to continue my growth, succeed with City and win titles.”
On a potential loan to Girona he said: “No, there’s nothing about loans. I only know that I’m still with City. These are just rumours.”
Back then, in July, Diaz sounded confident about a future with Manchester City as he detailed his aims: “To play as much as I can and keep learning. I would like to play more minutes, I am ambitious, and to stay at the club for a long time.
“The goal is to win everything. Both Champions League and Premier League are important goals. In the end, the Champions League is very beautiful but we want to win and give the best of joy to the fans.”
Since then he’s had no appearances in the Premier League or Champions League, but two in the League Cup, scoring twice against Fulham.
At the beginning of November, Marca reported important clubs were knocking on the player’s door, but they didn’t push Real Madrid interest.
Then on November 20th, AS said Diaz had decided to leave, and that Pep Guardiola was trying to convince him to stay.
Early on Tuesday morning, Cadena Ser published an article claiming the 19 year old ‘does not want to renew’ with Manchester City. They say Real Madrid will try for a January transfer, and if they can’t get that they’ll look at a free move in the summer.
