Still going around trying to find themselves another centre-back, West Ham had most recently targeted Le Havre’s Harold Moukoudi.
The France U20 international was seen as an ideal man to add some depth and talent to Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and a bid of €12m was reportedly on the cards for his services.
However, according to France Bleu in France, the 20-year-old will not be moving to London Stadium this summer, mostly because he doesn’t see himself in England.
Despite the defender’s desire to leave and ‘go up a level’, he would much rather do so in his country, going from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1.
As things stand, no adequate offer has arrived from top tier French clubs, mostly because Le Havre are being rather greedy at a time when they probably shouldn’t be, as Moukoudi’s contract comes to an end in June 2019.
This means that come January, he’ll be free to negotiate a deal elsewhere, having decided he didn’t want to renew his contract with Le Havre.
France Bleu state many Ligue 1 sides have ‘enquired’ about his situation, like Lyon, Nice and Marseille, but a move to West Ham isn’t on the cards.
