Although the day after the transfer window is full of rumours which could carry on until the summer market, there’s also some stories which should come to an end now.
When reporting the race for CD Tenerife defender Jorge Saenz today, outlet La Opinion makes it clear that Brentford and Fulham aren’t threats to take the player from the Spanish side in the future.
They claim that Valencia and Espanyol are both interested in the player, whose contract with Tenerife expires in 2020. But the English is just a thing from the winter market.
Brentford got closer, willing to pay €3.5m for the player, but the reason things didn’t go through are not revealed. Meanwhile, Fulham’s chase is only mentioned as ‘the interest’ from The Whites.
La Opinion says both chases failed, without any signs of a possible deal in the future. But it looks like Saenz should soon be playing in Spain’s top division.
