A potential move to Manchester City was a big topic in the interview that Girona star Savinho gave to the Brazilian media this week.
The winger belongs to the City Group, and as he’s been playing a big part in the La Liga’s side great campaign this season, there’s always some wonder about whether he should join Pep Guardiola’s side.
Speaking to Globo Esporte, Savinho was asked whether he’d be interesting in joining Manchester City, and he made it clear that’s a big objective he has.
“Yes, yes. I think that when I was signed by the City Group, I had the ultimate goal of arriving at Manchester City. But as I said, each player will go through his own process, his own storm in football that he has to go through, which is normal. It’s something that’s bad but good at the same time, that in the future you’ll know why you went through it.”
“To date, I’ve had no offers from Manchester City, no contact. But I’m happy to be on the internet. Because it reaches me. People ask me on the internet too, they ask my family. But I’m focused on Girona. I want to achieve my goals here, personally and as a team. And that’s it, I’m focused here. The window is open, and in the middle of the year it will open too, so I’m focused here and I want to stay here.”
Savinho was initially signed by the City Group on a €6.5m move from Atlético Mineiro to Troyes in the summer of 2022. He spent his first season in Europe on loan at PSV, and last summer, was sent to Girona.
Playing in Spain, he has seven goals and seven assists in 25 appearances so far. With the club currently standing on top of the La Liga table, it’s impossible not to look at their emerging talents.
