Franck Kessié has less than six months left on his contract at AC Milan and has refused to sign a new deal since the Serie A side have not met his demands so far.
The midfielder’s situation at the San Siro has resulted in various reports linking him to other clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur being among them.
On February 17th, MilanNews.it reported the 25-year-old’s future is likely to be away from Serie A and the north London club seem to be the ‘most concrete’ destination.
The Ivory Coast international first came to Europe when Atalanta signed him for their academy from Stella Club d’Adjamé in 2014. During his time with the Bergamo club, he spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Cesena.
Massimo Drago was then the manager at Cesena and he’s given an interview to Calciomercato, where he was asked to give his take on Kessié’s case.
“I am nostalgic, but today there is no longer the possibility, there are too many interests and agents who for each change of team earn almost more than the player. It comes naturally even if perhaps many situations are not coherent,” he said.
Drago is of the belief his former player should leave Italy and make a switch to England in the summer.
“I would see him well in English football. Juve have a bit of difficulty in midfield but I think overseas he can give a little more than what he already gives here in Italy,” the 50-year-old explained.
He was immediately quizzed whether he can join and fit in at Antonio Conte’s Tottenham. Responding to that, Drago said: “Yes, absolutely.”
