Since Edinson Cavani’s wish to move closer to Uruguay is well known in South America, there’s the interest from several clubs in signing the striker soon.
And now that his contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season, that’s one more reason for new clubs to step up and show their desire to have him.
So the newest club to join the race seems to be Botafogo. The Brazilian side is being purchased by John Textor, one of the owners at Crystal Palace, and the businessman didn’t mind revealing that Cavani is one of their targets for the future.
Textor was interviewed by Canal do TF this week, and was initially asked about his wish of signing Marcelo from Real Madrid. Then he revealed that the Manchester United striker is another one in the list.
Despite being a traditional club, Botafogo are now going through tough years and are currently playing in the second division. So considering that Cavani should have big offers from sides who are disputing South America’s most important titles, the Rio de Janeiro club will need to have very convincing arguments to land him.
