Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich rumours have been around in recent weeks without there being a great deal added.
The story hadn’t really taken off in the German media, which was a surprise given all the connections through national team and Pep Guardiola.
That changed on Monday when Kicker claimed Sane is a ‘hot candidate’ for the Bundesliga champions.
This week’s edition of SportBild suggested the Manchester City player would likely be out of the budget Bayern want to stick to. They don’t plan to spend more than €80m on a player, and the prospect was therefore talked down in favour of other options.
However, Robert Lewandowski has still been asked about it during a press event at Bayern’s training complex. On his club potentially signing the Manchester City attacker, the striker is quoted by Kicker as saying: “Yeah. This is a great player with great quality and potential, I’ve seen how good he has been many times, those players can get you up from the very first game and improve the team.”
Lewandowski doesn’t make transfer policy for Bayern, but he was clearly happy to share his views. Manchester City probably won’t find that too irritating, it’s something their own players have done previously.
