With Bayern Munich still linked to Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane, it seems the Bundesliga giants are in no hurry to get the striker signed.
That’s said today in an interview which Bild journalist Christian Falk gave to FCBinside.
There, the reporter had been talking about Bayern Munich’s quest for a new centre-forward, as despite a potential contract extension of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, they still want a name of greater calibre for that role.
Falk then explained that the interest in Kane remains, and even if Tottenham make his departure unlikely next summer, the German club could wait until he can leave the Premier League side for free in 2024.
“Currently they are building on an extension with Choupo-Moting. Harry Kane is still interesting for Bayern, but is currently difficult to implement financially for the coming summer,” Christian Falk told FCB Inside.
“It wouldn’t be the worst situation for Bayern if Kane let his contract with Tottenham expire. If Choupo was extended, the record champions could also wait until 2024 for the England captain.”
Harry Kane has 20 goals and four assists in 34 appearances for Tottenham this season, and according to Transfermarkt, he has a market value of €90m.
With still over a year before the end of his contract, it may sound too early for Spurs to feel desperate about that. But if that’s a plan Bayern Munich have, then that may be a reason for Fabio Paratici to accelerate the talks for the striker’s renewal.
