Roderick Miranda is one of the many Portuguese players who linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the past few months.
The 26-year-old defender is living the best form of his career at Rio Ave, something that has been attracting the interest of clubs from abroad.
Back in February, it was claimed that Wolves had already made an attempt to sign him at the start of the year, and would have the player as a target for the summer market.
Roderick has given an interview to Thursday’s edition of Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, and made a few comments on the chances of leaving his club at the end of this season.
Speaking of the rumours that have surrounded him recently, Roderick said: “The only thing I have is the contract with Rio Ave. I’ve read a lot of things in the press, but nothing concrete got to me.
“It’s always good to know your name has been considered by some clubs, but, for now, my head is focused on Rio Ave and the four games left.”
Then he commented on the chances of leaving Rio Ave to a club from abroad. He said he looks for “always bigger things and upper levels,” and then claimed that “leaving Portugal, for example, to play in the 2nd English League, it would have to be financially very appetising”.
That’s a pretty clear message for Wolves.
Just like in January, O Jogo don’t mention how much Rio Ave would demand for the player. With a contract running until 2019, he has his value estimated by Transfermarkt as €1.75m, although we all know a Portuguese club wouldn’t let him go for England for that figure.
