Enjoying some success with Willy Boly the last time they dealt with FC Porto for a defender, Wolverhampton Wanderers are at it again.
This time, it’s a left-back they are after, according to Own Goal Nigeria, who claim Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have ‘singled out’ Zaidu Sanusi as a ‘potential transfer target’.
It’s said the defender has ‘shocked’ many with his adaptation to a higher level following his £3.6m move from Santa Clara, ‘particularly in the Champions League’.
Now the first-choice left back for the Portuguese side, Sanusi ‘hasn’t gone unnoticed by Europe’s top teams’.
That includes Wolves, who have ‘already informed his representatives they will be interest in the 23-year-old’ should Porto ‘decide to sell him this summer’.
That seems unlikely considering they bought him last year, and it’s explained the Liga NOS club ‘feel they will get better offers if he spends another season’ with them.
He’s allegedly currently ‘valued around €20m’, which could go up considerably in the future, with him contracted to Porto until 2025.
For Wolves, this would be an expensive purchase in a role where they are fairly well covered with Jonny, Marçal and Rayan Aït Nouri, so either one or two of those are going, or this is something we can take with a pinch of salt for the time being.
