Wolverhampton Wandereres’ interest in Nico Gonzalez is today again being highlighted by the Spanish media.
It was back in June, when Barcelona were said to be chasing Ruben Neves, that Wolves had been linked to the Spaniard. At the time it was said the Molineux side were interested in receiving the youngster as part of a deal for their Portuguese star, and the idea wasn’t accepted by the La Liga giants.
Since Gonzalez is unlikely to find a space in Barça’s squad due to the ‘overbooking’ of midfielders at the club, outlet Sport writes that he evaluates going out on loan to get some experience.
The outlet claims Wolves are the club who’ve shown ‘most interest’ in the player since those talks for Ruben Neves. Given the Premier League side’s relationship with agent Jorge Mendes is ‘known by everyone’, that could help a deal.
Sport claims that Barcelona are not interested in selling Gonzalez, since they ‘trust his progression’, so a loan without a buying option is ‘the idea that convinces them the most’.
Now it’s up to Wolves to evaluate if it’s worth having the 20-year-old for a limited period of time, considering they’re unlikely to get a permanent deal for him.
