Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on a deal for Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig after making a ‘tentative enquiry’ last summer.
That’s according to Sport, who say Bruno Lage’s side have ‘again shown an interest’ in the 22-year-old midfielder.
The newspaper reports that Wolves believe Puig is a ‘very interesting talent to capture’ and are willing to make their move to get him.
They’ve been very attentive to Barcelona, both the first team and youth teams, with the club’s sporting direction often looking to the Camp Nou for potential signings.
They now see a ‘market opportunity’ to get Puig, who has struggled to break into the team under Xavi and knows that this summer, he will have no choice but to look for a new club to get the minutes he needs.
He is likely to have several proposals on the table, and Wolves will be one of them. Crucially, they could be the one of ‘most interest’ to Barça.
The Catalan club intend to try and keep Adama Traore beyond his loan deal, which expires in the summer, but will only be able to do so if they can get him for free.
They already have a ‘trump card’ in Trincao, who is currently on loan at Wolves and has Jorge Mendes managing his affairs.
He could work out a deal that sees the two clubs swap players, but if not, there is now the suggestion they could look to use Puig instead.
The midfielder will, of course, be the one who makes the final decision, but he knows he has to secure a move, and Wolves are keen on offering him one.
