Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘did not want to pay’ €20m for Porto youngster Vitinha last summer, a decision which they may now regret.
21-year-old Vitinha has been in good form for the Portuguese giants this season, with five goals and three assists in 18 games in the league and 12 goals and four assists in 30 games in all competitions.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and his name has ‘long been on the lips of the world’ according to newspaper O Jogo.
His starring role this year means the bigger clubs are starting to take notice, with Bayern Munich brought into the mix this week and Liverpool also keen.
The player is keen on a move to the Premier League, having spent last season on loan with Wolves. He returned from that in the summer and ‘was left with his mouth-watering to return’ because of it.
Indeed, Wolves had an option to make the move a permanent one for €20m but ‘did not want to pay’ that figure at the time because of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rule
That’s a decision they’re probably now regretting, given the player’s development this year and the fact he could end up somewhere else for a much bigger fee to boot.
