Wolverhampton Wanderers may find themselves being used by Matviy Ponomarenko to get a better contract, with a 2.5x improvement on the table.

That’s according to Football 24, who report that Ponomarenko needs to choose between remaining at Dynamo Kyiv or moving to Wolves in the Premier League.

They report that Ponomarenko are currently negotiating with the player to extend his contract, with the parties close to signing the agreement on the new deal.

According to their information, despite the interest from English clubs, including Wolves, the player and his agent do not mind staying in Dynamo. Under the terms of his new contract, Ponomarenko will see his salary increase by 2 to 2.5.

This new contract comes after a report yesterday stated that Wolves and Leicester are both interested int the 19-year-old.

They were both namechecked directly in a report about the centre-forward, with the youngster highly rated in Ukraine at this moment in time.

That, though, appears to have been a ruse to get a better deal from Dynamo, who are now close to signing him up to a new and very improved deal rather than risk losing him to England.
