Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer to Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez as he looks set to leave the Bernabeu on a free transfer.
That’s according to Sport, who say the 33-year-old has offers on the table for next season and one of them is from Wolves.
They explain that Nacho is not happy with the role he has been playing at Real Madrid this season and is yet to respond to their offer to extend his contract by another year.
He is ‘determined’ to leave and find a new club and currently has offers from Serie A, Inter and Roma in particular, and Wolves.
The two Italian sides would be willing to improve his current contract, which is currently €4.5m a year at Madrid, and Nacho has made it clear that he doesn’t want to see that drop at his new club.
Whether Wolves are also happy to pay him that figure or an improvement isn’t mentioned but they ‘would improve’ on Madrid’s offer of a one-year deal with an offer of a two-year contract instead because Julen Lopetegui is keen to sign the veteran.
There are also interested parties in Germany and the MLS, although Nacho’s idea is to go to Italy or England this summer.
He is yet to make a decision on his situation as he has recently become a father for the first time and that could lead him to stay in Madrid instead. If he doesn’t, though, he has offers on the table and one of them is from Wolves.
