Following the good performances Vitinha has been having for Porto, the midfielder was now named the best player in their recent fixture, and that’s one more reason for local newspapers to write about how good he’s been.
A Bola today starts a piece already pointing out that the player had been loaned to Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, with the Premier League side deciding not to trigger the €20m buying option they had over him.
Now back at Porto, Vitinha is highly praised, as he may take over the creative role which belonged to Luis Diaz, who left for Liverpool. He scored a big goal against Arouca at the weekend, being decisive in a tough game.
So as a little provocation towards Wolves, A Bola writes that the Molineux side now already ‘know’ that €20m would’ve been a ‘bargain’ to keep the player.
When Vitinha was loaned to Wolverhampton, there was some certainty from the Portuguese media that the Premier League club would trigger the buying clause.
That’s why, even though the Molineux side didn’t anticipate the purchase, a big expectation was raised for them to sign the player in the last days of the loan and even after it expired.
But Wolves were not really interested, and even though Vitinha wasn’t that impressive during his spell in England, there appears to be a small hint of regret there.
