On Saturday we covered claims from Mundo Deportivo on Wolves and Thomas Lemar.
It was explained Wolves could be the player’s next destination, largely thanks to the club’s ‘Godfather’. Jorge Mendes has very good relations with both the Premier League side and Atletico Madrid, so the assumption is he could find a deal which suits both.
Atletico need to get some wages off their accounts this month so they can make signings, and Lemar is continually pushed forward as a likely candidate.
He’s been a huge disappointment since his move to Atletico from Ligue 1, and there’s an acceptance the transfer just hasn’t worked out.
Atletico would ideally want a straight transfer, trying to get as much back as possible of the €70m they paid, however, they’re not really in a situation to be demanding conditions on Lemar.
Mundo Deportivo repeat similar claims in their Sunday newspaper, and so do AS.
The story is pretty much the same, but it could be significant that a second Spanish source is now reporting it, and one based in Madrid.
Mendes is again at the centre of things and it’s claimed Wolves would ‘welcome’ a signing like Lemar, with the possibility of a move certainly not dismissed.
