Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Hugo Bueno’s loan spell at Feyenoord is continuing to go from strength to strength, with this week seeing him called up to the Spanish youth squad.
1908.nl cover the situation today, reporting that the Wolves loanee ‘deserves election’ for the Spanish side, whose manager Santiago Denia Sanchez has included him in his group for the next international break.
They say the left-back has been impressing on loan at Feyenoord from Wolves this season and has ‘made enough impression’ in Rotterdam that he’s in the squad this month.
He already made his debut in September 2023 and has four appearances for Spain’s U21 side, with the last of those coming in November.
They’ve been impressed by the Wolves youngsters, whose loan spell at Feyenoord this season has been nothing but a success.
He’s made 24 appearances for them to date, with three assists in the Eredivisie and one in Champions League under his belt.
It’s been a real formative season for him and a report last month even stated that he’d put himself on the radar of several ‘important’ clubs in Europe too. The belief then was that he would be in Spain’s U21 squad for the summer at the European Championships and his latest call-up indicates that will certainly be the case.
Whether Wolves will want to sell is another matter of course, with the 22-year-old tied to a deal until 2028 and currently emerging as a star of the future that they may want to keep for themselves.
