Starting the new season really well with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jonathan Castro Otto, or Jonny, earned himself a spot in the Spain squad for the upcoming international fixtures.
On loan from Atlético Madrid, the left-back has been a key member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, and played a huge part in Wolves’ good early season form.
Picking a makeshift defence, it seems Luis Enrique is more likely to use the 24-year-old at right-back, having also called up Marcos Alonso and José Gaya, but, either way, Jonny will be there and is ready to do whatever is asked of him by the manager.
Speaking to Radio Marca, he said: “He [Enrique] is a very direct person, and knows what he wants. He doesn’t change for anyone, and that’s really positive.”
That aside, the fact Jonny is even ready to turn up to the Spain squad is commendable seeing as he also broke some rather important news on air.
He continued: “I’m going to be a father in the coming days. What’s important is that the child is born healthy, but this is a unique opportunity, and I’ll be there with the national team.”
Congratulations are therefore in order for the Spanish defender.
This is where we’d normally say something about Anthony Martial and what happened during over the summer, but considering the mood José Mourinho has been in since the end of the last campaign, we don’t blame him for wanting to be as far away from his manager as possible.
Also, playing for your national team > preseason.
