On Tuesday, news broke in Spain that Wolverhampton Wanderers were making their move to bolster their defence, targeting Girona’s Santiago Bueno.

The news came from Cadena SER journalist Nil Solà, who explained the two clubs were in talks over the transfer of the young Uruguayan centre-back, who has a release clause of €25m.

The fee to be paid will be less than that, though, since they are in talks, and the journalist has brought the latest on Wednesday on Twitter.

He reveals just how far the transfer is at this stage, revealing that Bueno has already ‘said goodbye’ to his teammates and the staff at Girona, before adding the centre-back will travel to England today.

The journalist also states that the deal is ‘closed’ and just a medical is needed to fully get it over the line.

AS also add a bit on the subject at the bottom of an article on Wednesday, explaining that the player’s exit from Girona to Wolves ‘will be official’ in the ‘next few hours’.

It’s stated there ‘already is an agreement’ with Wolverhampton in the Premier League, and the transfer fee is expected be ‘just over €10m’.
