Wolverhampton Wanderers have been trying to sign RC Lens’ Kevin Danso over the past week or so.

Initially, the French press reported Wolves made an offer of €20m and it didn’t please the Ligue 1 side.

Two days ago, L’Equipe stated Jorge Mendes could help the English club sign him on loan in the winter market. Juventus then made a loan approach for the centre-back.

On Friday, L’Equipe said RC Lens president Joseph Oughourlian and Danso’s management are favouring a move to Wolves, while claims from Italy reported the Old Lady were a step away from signing the defender.

Foot Mercato now state Juve’s negotiations with Lens for the Austria international have broken down. This new development not only gives Vítor Pereira’s side hope, but it has also seen them get ‘back in pole position’ to sign Danso.

Stade Rennais have also made an approach for the Lens player, but the report states he is favouring a move to Molineux as he prioritises a return to the Premier League.

The Austrian will join the English club on a dry loan deal until the end of this season. This means there will be no purchase option included in the deal. Indeed, the move is seen as a chance to showcase himself in the Premier League before getting another transfer in the summer.

Foot Mercato state the operation to take Danso to Wolves hasn’t been completed yet but it is well ‘on the way’.
