Wolverhampton Wanderers are negotiating with Barcelona SC over a deal for striker Leonardo Campana.
Wolves are currently sitting sixth in the table, just five points outside of the top four after an impressive first half of the campaign.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were expected to struggle this season, with a congested fixture list due to their Europa League participation predicted to cause problems.
They have impressed in spite of that, although the Wolves boss has admitted signings are needed in January if things are to continue.
And the first of those may be an addition upfront, with El Universo stating that negotiations are already away for striker Campana.
According to the newspaper, Wolves are keen on the 19-year-old Ecuadorian, with a source claiming that “before the Pre-Olympic in Colombia, the agreement and his arrival at the Wolves should already be confirmed. His agent is working on that.”
Campana, who was a South American U-20 champion in Chile and also won bronze at the Under 20 World Cup, is expected to be one of Ecuador’s strikers at the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament taking place between the end of January and beginning of February.
Wolves are seemingly pushing ahead to get a deal done before then with work already underway, although El Universo mention no details around a transfer fee or contract at this point.
