A surprising report from Portuguese TV outlet Sic Notícias claimed last night that Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder João Moutinho could soon be moving back to Porto.
According to their information, there are negotiations going on between player and club for him to join the Dragons this summer.
Sic Notícias points out that Moutinho is entering the final year of his contract with Wolves, and with a change of managers on the way, there’s no guarantee he’ll often be playing next season.
The Molineux side spent €5.6m to sign the player from Monaco three years ago, and that’s said to be the amount they demand for his sale now.
That’s a price Porto could afford, although the numbers could still drop due to the contract situation.
Newspaper A Bola covers the news today, pointing out that Porto fans got quite excited with that possibility, making big noise on social media channels last night.
The outlet, however, says the possibility of a move ‘isn’t guaranteed’, at least for now.
That’s because Moutinho has a good salary in England, and for him to return to Portugal, he’d need to take a big pay cut.
