Wolverhampton Wanderers are leading the race for Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, according to il BiancoNero.
Between 2013 and 2015, the centre-back spent two seasons on loan at Empoli, where he played under the orders of Maurizio Sarri.
The Old Lady appointed the former Chelsea boss as their manager last summer and this led to a suggestion that the 25-year-old could feature regularly this season.
However, that hasn’t happened as the Italy international has made only 10 appearances in all competitions, which includes only four league starts.
According to the report, the defender has dropped down the pecking order and is the fifth-choice centre-back for Sarri. ‘Errors in the defensive phase’ while on the pitch have also not helped his cause of demanding regular minutes.
Despite limited opportunities, Rugani is not short of suitors.
Wolves get a mention and the website adds Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are in the ‘front row’ for the transfer. Zenit Saint Petersburg are also interested in the defender.
It’s claimed the Serie A leaders are evaluating the possibility of selling the player this summer.
Rugani’s contract is until 2024 and if Juventus decide to make him available in the market, Wolves could make a swoop for him this summer.
