Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traoré was close to joining Italian giants Juventus before the end of the transfer window.

That’s according to AS journalist Javier Matallanas, who says the Serie A champions remain keen on signing the Spaniard next summer.

According to Matallanas, Traoré was ‘very close’ to joining Juve on Sunday, with them having chosen him as a potential replacement for Douglas Costa, who has returned to Bayern Munich.

The Italian giant’s main candidate was Federico Chiesa, who ended up joining on a two-year loan from Fiorentina, but had that move failed then Traoré was the alternative.

It seems they made their interest known to Wolves too, with it also reported they ‘came to study’ replacements for the forward should he end up departing.

Fortunately for them, the deal for Chiesa went through with no issues, but that hasn’t ended Juve’s interest in him.

To the contrary, it’s claimed confidently that the Italian’s ‘will try to sign’ him next season, meaning Wolves face another fight to keep their star at some point in the future.
