Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the clubs in the race for Spanish midfielder Omar Mascarell, according to reports today.
AS features a story on Wednesday saying the 28-year-old is ‘planning to leave’ German side Schalke 04 this summer, one year before the end of his contract.
They believe his destination could be the Premier League, where Wolves have ‘asked’ about him, having shown the ‘most interest’ so far.
Given his contract situation, it would only cost the Premier League side around €5m to take him from Schalke 04, and Nuno Espírito Santo and co. are the only ones named in the story.
Omar Mascarell is a product of Real Madrid’s academy, and first left the Galacticos on a €1m move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016.
He was bought back by the Spanish side in 2018 for €4m just they could make a bigger profit when selling him to Schalke 04 for €10m that same summer.
However, despite being captain at the German side, Mascarell is said to be looking for a new path in his career, and it appears Wolves have a good chance of being his next destination, if this report is to be believed.
