Earlier this month, Téléfoot in France claimed that Wolves were ‘still following’ Morgan Sanson.
This came after the Marseille midfielder admitted having contacts with clubs outside of France during the last summer transfer window before putting pen to paper to a new contract back in December.
The deal was signed around a time when the Ligue 1 side were still in the race for Champions League football, but with that all but out of the picture, things could change.
Marseille, who were half banking on finishing in the top three, will be in need of money to abide to FFP regulations, and while Florian Thauvin will likely be sold, Sanson could quickly follow.
In fact, Wolves have apparently gone as far as making a €42m verbal offer for the midfielder, according to Le10 Sport on Tuesday.
The news come via a new format, a YouTube video, on their website, but the information is there, and, if true, it appears Wolves are serious about signing the Frenchman.
Of course, a verbal offer doesn’t get you anywhere in football, but it would suggest either Nuno Espirito Santo is expecting to lose a midfielder in the summer (Ruben Neves?) or the club are going all out to ensure they keep progressing after a terrific return to the Premier League this season.
Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye on this, because that’s now two sources reporting on Wolverhampton’s interest in Sanson.
