For the past week or so, the Catalan media have been excited with the possibility of Raphinha arriving at Barcelona.
There’s been claims of the La Liga side reaching an agreement with the Leeds United star, but they still have a long way to go with the Whites to conclude things.
On March 24th, Sport reported the Catalan club made the ‘first offer’ of €35m to sign the Brazil international, this was later disputed by Marca who say there’s been no talks or offers yet.
Another report from Sport now explains the Premier League side rejected this proposal, but that has not put off Barcelona.
In order to convince Jesse Marsch’s side, Barcelona will make an offer worth €50m [€40m fixed plus €10m in variables]. This offer will not be valid if the English club are relegated to the Championship and then, because they feel they can get him for €25m then.
The Spanish giants’ plan is to not enter an auction or improve their offer and ‘it will be Leeds who decide’ whether or not to accept the proposal. Barca, for their part, have no plan to ‘exceed a single euro’ beyond a €40m + €10m offer.
Raphinha’s desire to move to the Camp Nou favours Barcelona, but they are not in a hurry and are waiting to see where the Yorkshire club will finish this term.
Sport further add Barcelona are hoping Raphinha’s agent, Deco, will put pressure on and convince Leeds to negotiate the South American’s sale.
