It appears that Casemiro is now firmly on his way to Manchester United.
Why do we know that? Because Carlo Ancelotti, his manager, has confirmed the player’s desire to transfer to Old Trafford on Friday morning.
Fresh from their training session, the manager sat down to talk to the media, where he was asked about the defensive midfielder’s potential move to Manchester United and whether he convinced the Brazilian to stay at Real Madrid.
That’s when the Italian surprised quite a few people by openly speaking about the deal.
He said, relayed by Marca: “I have not tried to convince him. I have talked a lot with him. I am very confident, he has helped us a lot. Listening to his will and desire, there is no way to go back. You have to consider this. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few hours. If he stays or he doesn’t.
“If he doesn’t stay, my thanks to him are great because he has done it and is doing it very well.”
He then added that he spoke with Casemiro ‘this morning’, and that the midfielder wants to ‘try a new challenge’, which Manchester United are presenting him.
Ancelotti continued: “The club understand him for what he has done and for the person he is. There are negotiations. Nothing is official, but his will to leave is clear. If there is an agreement, we have resources to replace him.”
This is the first time someone from Real Madrid has commented on Casemiro’s transfer to Manchester United, and it’s certainly a clear indication of where the negotiations are heading.
With the Brazilian wanting to leave, it shouldn’t be too hard for the two clubs to find an agreement, which a lot of outlets believe will be around €70m.
