Last month, Sport stated Manchester United are in the mix to sign Florian Wirtz. The Red Devils were mentioned when discussing Barcelona’s interest in the Bayer Leverkusen star and it was also said he could receive a ‘very high’ proposal from England.
Fast forward to November and Sky Deutschland now state Erik ten Hag’s side have joined other clubs to closely follow the 20-year-old.
Manchester United are mentioned in a report that talks about Bayern Munich’s desire to sign Wirtz and also explain Leverkusen’s plans for him.
The attacking midfielder’s deal is until 2027 and Sky say Leverkusen are internally hoping for him to stay for another year.
They are ‘100%’ assuming for him to leave before 2025 and will ask for over €120m to part ways with him.
Wirtz could follow Xabi Alonso out of the exit door, if the manager were to leave the club.
A move to Bayern depends on several factors, including the fee needed to sign him and Jamal Musiala’s future.
With regards to Manchester United, it’s said they are watching the Germany international closely.
As it stands, they haven’t made an offer nor have they held talks with his camp. Sky add ‘this will still happen’, meaning Erik ten Hag’s side will make contact to sign Wirtz.
Leverkusen have already started preparations for their star’s future exit and with several clubs in the picture for the player, it’ll be interesting to see where he’ll end up next.
So far, Wirtz has managed six goals and 10 assists from 18 games this season.
