There’s uncertainty around Adrián San Miguel’s future at Liverpool beyond this season because the goalkeeper has a contract expiring on June 30th.
Last month, we covered claims made by La Razón the 34-year-old wants to return to Real Betis, if one of their keepers decides to leave the Spanish club.
The Reds custodian came up through the ranks of the La Liga side’s youth system before leaving Betis to make a switch to England in 2013.
After spending eight years with West Ham United and the Merseyside club, Adrián is ‘optimistic’ of a return to his country in the next market.
That’s according to Cadena Ser‘s El Larguero, who also have comments from the player regarding his future.
“In December the coach decided that another player should play ahead of me, I have to work to fix it. My contract is running out this season and the club told me that they are happy with me, but you have to sit down and talk things out,” he said.
Adrián has also not closed the door to signing for Manuel Pellegrini’s side once his Liverpool contract expires.
“There are 20 teams in La Liga. [Claudio] Bravo and Joel [Robles] have done well [for Betis]. I still have a lot of football left. I’ve been away for nine years and it would be nice to come back, why lie?” Adrián explained.
