Denis Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday the Barcelona midfielder remains hopeful of sealing a switch to the Emirates this week.
The Sun in England reported that West Ham United have joined the race for the 25-year-old and they are set to rival the Gunners in signing the Spaniard.
It was also mentioned the Hammers even submitted a bid of £20m for the former Villarreal man.
Journalist Miguel Rico, writing on the back page of Mundo Deportivo, provides an update on the claims about Manuel Pellegrini’s side’s interest in the Blaugrana player in Wednesday’s edition of the Catalan newspaper.
He claims the £20m figure is sufficient for the La Liga winners to sanction Suarez’s sale, but the Camp Nou outfit have denied the reports about West Ham’s offer for Suarez made in the British press.
It didn’t take long for Rico and Mundo to put this rumour to bed. It’s worth noting that on January 5th another Catalan newspaper, Sport, also reported an offer from West Ham, although they didn’t reveal a figure.
Rico gives the Spanish champions’ stance on Suarez and explains he’ll be allowed to leave on a permanent transfer or loan with compulsory purchase.
