On Thursday, we covered claims from Spain about Guillermo Maripan.
The Alaves player hasn’t made an appearance since mid April due to an ankle injury, and although he’s recently returned to training it was explained his club won’t play him through fear of further fitness problems.
A new injury or aggravating the old one could scupper a summer transfer, with West Ham once again named as interested.
Marca said the defender has a €25m release clause, and that’s what Alaves would aim for.
Now AS have a slightly different take. They say Maripan has been allowed to return to his native Chile to have further fitness treatment and make sure he’s ready for the Copa America.
They also talk about a transfer and say the strongest ‘siren songs’ are coming from England, with West Ham ‘willing to pay €12m’ for the 25 year old.
However, it’s once again noted that Alaves refer to the clause ‘which exceeds €20m’.
It’s likely the Hammers will need a few extra million.
