West Ham United have less than a week to sign a new striker before the window closes on February 1st.
The Hammers have been linked to several players in the same position over the last two weeks.
Beşiktaş’ Vincent Aboubakar is one of the new targets identified by the Premier League side, according to Fotospor.
The 29-year-old striker has been in fine form for the Turkish club this season, scoring 11 goals and managing two assists in 16 league appearances.
David Moyes’ side ‘wanted’ the goalscoring striker and were ready to offer enough money to bring him to the club in the winter market.
It’s even suggested West Ham asked the Cameroon international’s agent to travel to London to discuss ‘personal matters’. The player, however, didn’t want his agent to make that trip because he is happy with Beşiktaş.
Fotospor state the frontman has earned enough money during his playing career and the most important thing for him is to be respectful of where he plays now.
Aboubakar has been respected well at the Turkish club, which is why he doesn’t want to let Beşiktaş down by asking his agent to travel to the English capital.
The website’s title reads, ‘I’m Aboubakar! Give my regards to West Ham!’, which is to say the player is delighted with the Hammers’ interest, but he is happy to continue at Beşiktaş.
