Bayer Leverkusen are still working on signing Demarai Gray from Leicester City and hope to finalise a deal this week.

That’s what Sky Sport Germany report today, stating that the Bundesliga side have made a ‘formal bid’ for the Leicester forward.

Gray has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this month, with his contract expiring in the summer and him very much not a part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

This month remains the last opportunity for the Foxes to get money for their player, as opposed to him leaving on a free in the summer, and Leverkusen have been named as suitors.

Talks between the two clubs were believed to be underway but struggling as the Germans didn’t want to match Leicester’s €2m demands.

They appear to have changed their stance, though, with Sky, via journalist Max Bielefeld, reporting that they have made a formal bid of around €3m.

They are hoping that is enough to convince Leicester sell and are ‘trying to close’ the deal this week, with the transfer window set to shut in six days time.

They are not the only side interested in Gray, with Marseille and Benfica also keeping an eye on the situation as well.

It is Leverkusen who have made the first proper move, though, having seemingly tossed aside their concerns over Leicester’s asking price.
