West Ham United were linked with a handful of strikers even before they sold Sébastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month.
Haller’s exit has left David Moyes with Michail Antonio as the only recognised player to lead the Hammers’ attack, which is why the Premier League side are actively searching for a new goalscorer.
Cagliari’s Giovanni Simeone is the latest player to have emerged as a target for the London club, according to Sky Italia.
In a short update about the English club, the report claims West Hama are ‘interested’ in the Argentina international.
The Serie A side are keen on signing Torino’s Simone Zaza, but they need to make room in their squad by allowing one of their attackers leave the club in the ongoing window.
Sky state one possibility is a swap deal involving Zaza and Leonardo Pavoletti, with the latter moving to Torino.
The other ‘hypothesis’ is ‘that of a surprising sale’ of Simeone, who is attracting interest from Moyes’ side.
Cagliari retain a ‘concrete interest’ in Zaza and their desire to land the Torino player could benefit West Ham in signing Simeone, if the latter want to convert their interest into an offer.
The South American has five goals to his name from 17 league appearances this season.
