West Ham United’s efforts to sign Hans Vanaken from Club Brugge ‘seems in vain’ as the Belgian side don’t want to sell.

That’s according to Het Laatste Niuews, who say while the player is ‘charmed’ by the idea of moving to the London Stadium his club aren’t entertaining the idea.

Reports earlier today made it clear that West Ham had made a first bid for Vanaken but that was considered completely inadequate by Brugge.

The Hammers were preparing a second bid but that ‘seems in vain’ according to HLN’s latest information.

They explain that while West Ham have managed to make Vanaken ‘think somewhat’ about his future and he is ‘willing to listen’ to their proposal, his club are not.

Brugge have insisted that the midfielder is ‘not for sale at the moment’ and that will not change in the remainder of the window.

Even a high bid, say roughly double the €15m that West Ham offered last year, will not change that stance.

Vanaken is simply too important and valuable for them to change that stance, even though they know he is tempted by the offer.

Thus there is a ‘certainty’ in Belgium that Vanaken will be staying at Brugge this summer as any departure would be ‘unthinkable’.
