Already setting itself up to be one of the stories of the summer, Edin Dzeko to West Ham continues to be the talk of the town in the Italian press, although Corriere dello Sport on Monday are trying to calm things down a bit.
In their Rome edition of their newspaper, the outlet explain that, as things stand, Edin Dzeko is heading towards an exit in the summer, and Inter and the Hammers are the two favourites to land him.
Heading to Milan would require Mauro Icardi’s sale, while West Ham will need to convince Roma to sell at an adequate fee while paying the Bosnian a hefty wage, which they remain somewhat dubious about.
However, the most important part of their report is that Dzeko, while seemingly open to a departure if it is necessary, is still ‘hoping’ to be offered a new contract with Roma.
The Serie A club are reportedly looking for €15m, which is a decrease on previous claims they would want around €20m for the 33-year-old, and our guess is they’ll keep him around and maybe extend his contract by a year if no one comes forward.
And so far, neither West Ham nor Inter have met their demands.
