West Ham United will have to pay Adnan Januzaj a €6m bonus on top of €6m a year wages if they wish to sign him this summer.
That’s according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, relayed by Estadio Deportivo, who say the Belgian is demanding a big fee because of his free-agent status.
Janjuzaj has elected to leave Real Sociedad at the end of this month when his current contract comes to an end.
He has suitors in Spain, Italy and England, with West Ham pushing the hardest from the Premier League.
Manager David Moyes is believed to be a big fan of the Belgian, who he worked alongside at Manchester United during his brief spell in charge there.
It is the Scotsman who is reportedly pushing for him to join West Ham, but it seems the Hammers will have to pay relatively big to do so.
According to Noticias de Gipuzkoa’s information, Januzaj is asking for a signing bonus of €6m and an annual salary of €6m gross a season, which, in Spain at least, would work out at around €3.5m net a year. That works out at around €72,000 a week.
It’s a figure that’s already put off his other suitors, Real Betis, and Estadio Deportivo label the numbers as ‘outrageous economic conditions’ for him to ask for.
They do, though, point out that West Ham’s ‘monetary potential’ is ‘superior’ to that of Betis, and so they would therefore be in a better position to sign Januzaj.
That remains to be seen, and there’s every chance Januzaj will ask for more from Moyes and co, given the riches on offer in the Premier League, but it seems the current price is €6m in wages and a signing bonus.
