French outlet L’Equipe now feature a fresh update on the race for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi.

According to their latest story, Lens and West Ham United are the clubs who currently ‘dispute’ the signing of the 20-year-old.

It’s said that ‘barring an unlikely reversal’, the centre-forward is set to become the biggest sale in Montpellier’s history.

West Ham are the club with the highest offer so far, placing a bid on Friday worth €35m plus €5m in bonuses. That’s exactly how much his club ‘hopes’ for.

Meanwhile, Lens also ‘launched an offensive’, as they’ve been discussing the signing for days, but no official offer has arrived.

Even though other clubs such as Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt had also been interested in Wahi, L’Equipe make it clear that it’s West Ham and Lens who currently ‘stand out’ in the battle for him.

Since it seems like the Hammers are meeting Montpellier’s request, it should now all come down to how much Lens will put on the table, as there isn’t a lot more time for the auction to go on.
