Nahitan Nández left Boca Juniors for Cagilari last summer and his performances in the first half of this season attracted interest from West Ham United.
The Hammers were keen on signing the midfielder and proposed a loan offer with an obligatory purchase option in the event of avoiding relegation. This was turned down by the Serie A side.
Centotrentuno have echoed those claims now and they further add that David Moyes’ side are still chasing the Uruguay international.
Having rejected West Ham’s offer in January, Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini promised a new contract for the 24-year-old, which will include a €38m termination clause.
Even if he signs a new deal, there’s a possibility the player could leave the club this summer.
With the global health crisis impacting football finances, Nández’s release clause (in new contract) could be ‘put aside in front of a lower offer, especially if the player received attractive proposals, both from an economic and a sporting point of view’.
According to the report, West Ham, Napoli and Inter Milan are looking at the 24-year-old and the three clubs are not the only contenders who are willing to sit on the negotiating table for his signing.
Four days ago, Calciomercato.it explained Nández has already given his ‘yes’ to Napoli and this could make it difficult for West Ham.
