Hugo Ekitike came up through the ranks of Reims’ youth setup and made his senior debut in October 2020, he then spent the second half of last season on loan with Vejle Boldklub.
Since returning from Denmark last summer, the striker has managed to cement a place at the French club, where he has excelled, scoring eight goals and managing four assists in 19 matches in all competitions.
This has seen the 19-year-old attract interest from West Ham United and others.
He is ‘very popular’ in England and recent reports in the UK have said Newcastle United are keen to secure his services. It was also stated the Magpies have made a €35m offer for him.
These claims are relayed by Le10 Sport and, according to their information, the Ligue 1 side have only received ‘one offer’ so far and that’s from David Moyes’ side. The proposal sent by them is worth around €15m.
It’s claimed the Hammers ‘would like to sign’ the France U20 international in the winter market, even if it means sending the teenager back to Reims on a loan deal until the end of the season.
With West Ham’s offer, Le10 Sport explain that both Reims and Ekitike’s family now ‘take time to reflect’.
