Torino are continuing their efforts to sign Nikola Vlasic from West Ham United on a permanent basis this summer.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who say that Torino director of football Davide Vagnati is ‘the prime mover’ when it comes to the Croatian’s future.

The newspaper explains that the option to buy Vlasic on a permanent basis in his current loan deal expires today at midnight.

That’s currently set at €13m but Torino would like West Ham to bring that fee down so they can better afford the deal.

The fact it is expiring means something needs to be worked out quickly and they have sent two written offers to West Ham in recent days.

The first of these was an €8m offer to see what effect it would have on the Hammers, as well as confirming their intentions to get the player. The second was an offer of €9m plus bonuses and was a way of ‘knocking on a door’.

Their belief is that West Ham will be happy to sell for a figure below that clause as they no longer want Vlasic, and the Croatian has already informed the club that he has no intention of returning to London.

The complication is that he does not intend to consider any offer other than that from Torino, so Vagnati re-opened talks with the Hammers yesterday to try and work out an agreement.

West Ham responded to that by insisting €9m is not enough but talks are underway between them, nonetheless.

If a deal cannot be struck before that clause expires then Torino will carry on regardless, not fearing possible moves from other clubs as they have the ‘appropriate support’ from Vlasic to make them favourites regardless.
