West Ham United continue to push for the signing of Lazaro, according to reports form Brazil.
The Hammers’ interest in the midfielder was first reported at the weekend, with journalist Jorge Nicola claiming a £5m bid was submitted.
The story seemed to be pretty serious, not only because that was backed up by other local outlets, but also due to the confirmation from Flamengo officials that they had received an offer for the player.
Now Jorge Nicola comes up with an update on the situation, claiming West Ham made a new effort for the transfer. It’s said the Hammers have now raised their offer to £7m.
Flamengo, however, remain unconvinced about the sale. Even though they haven’t given the Hammers an official response, they’re expected to turn it down.
Nicola claims that if West Ham want to take the player, they need to spend even more. And even though Club Brugge and Real Antwerp both want Lazaro, they aren’t expected to be able to compete with the Premier League side.
Today, we also see in the Brazilian media some stories saying journalist Venê Casagrande is claiming the Hammers are backing off in this chase. There’s nothing on his Twitter, though, and in case he said that on TV, that’s something we weren’t able to confirm.
