West Ham were one of a number of clubs linked with Raul Jimenez during the summer transfer window.
Benfica had received a huge offer from China for their substitute striker, but he wasn’t keen on the potential move and that left the Lisbon side rueful they couldn’t get such a big fee from anywhere else.
Towards the end of August it was reported West Ham were preparing a €30m offer for the player, but nothing came of it in the end. Since then the Mexican striker has faced increased struggles to get minutes on the pitch for Benfica, and then do anything worthwhile when given the chance of some action.
Given that, should West Ham now get around to actually making that bid they prepared, there’s a good chance it would be accepted by Benfica.
There’s also a good chance the player himself would say yes. Quoted by A Bola this weekend, the footballer made it clear he’s open to a transfer and will study opportunities available to him.
Jimenez said he’d be speaking to his agent and right now is “open to any situation”.
