When West Ham goalkeeper Adrian has spoken to the Spanish media over the past year or so the theme has usually been one of frustration, and suggestion of leaving the Premier League club.
Adrian believes he should be West Ham’s first choice and that the club should show more faith in him, and also hand out a new contract.
Last month, Adrian spoke to the Spanish media about potentially moving to Betis: “Of course I am aware of all the rumours, but it is true that Betis has their goalkeeper still, I have to deal with my club and Betis with their goalkeepers, it’s something that attracts you, going home is always going to be there, it is clear that if the time comes we would sit down and talk about it.
“I’m waiting to hear Pellegrini’s ideas, and from there will make a decision. In addition to Pellegrini’s opinion, the contractual situation also influences, if the club want me they should show it with an extension, there is already the president, with who we have to iron out rough edges, that will be seen, West Ham is my second home.
Łukasz Fabiański’s arrival has brought further pressure on Adrian’s place at the Hammers, but at the moment he sounds a lot more upbeat than usual.
Speaking to Radio Marca, the 31 year old explained: “The club is making new signings that are increasing the level of the squad.
“The teams halfway down the table are reinforcing very well, but the big ones like City and United are not moving much, although they do not need it either.
“Pellegrini has brought fresh air to the team, brings a winning mentality.”
That sounds much more positive from the goalkeeper, and right now it doesn’t seem like he’s in a melancholy stage.
