On Wednesday evening, the French media broke the story of Sébastien Haller being close to signing for Ajax. It was presented as almost a done deal, and the value of a move was put at around €25m.
Dutch reports on Thursday morning stated Haller had agreed terms with Ajax, but a transfer fee still had to be negotiated with West Ham. Ajax were looking to spread out the payments over as long a period as possible, and the Dutch slant on a transfer fee was around €20m.
Thursday afternoon saw further claims from France that an amount had now been agreed, and it made sense given it was in the middle at €22.5m. Haller was said to have agreed a four and a half year deal with the Eredivisie club.
De Telegraaf now report that everything is done and an announcement is expected soon. Haller has passed a medical with Ajax, and the fee is put at the initial €20m which was reported in the Netherlands.
There’s every chance bonuses will be added to that to take it to the €22.5m figure.
